End of an Era ...

Jason and I were/are coke addicts, when I say coke I mean Coca Cola! Not crack cocaine lol

I drank regular or Vanilla Coke the most and then switched to Coke Zero. Jason always drank Diet Coke. He was the kind of guy who ordered an extra large combo with a Diet Coke lol. But he drank it, so he told me, because he liked the taste, and he drank it like water! Neither Jase or I are hot drink people, we are more likely to get up in the morning to a glass of coke rather than a coffee.

And Jase ALWAYS drank from the bottle. He used to just take the whole bottle to the couch with him and set it at his feet! I was, and still am, a drink out of the glass person, Jase with his coke wasn't! He would say "no one else is drinking it so what's the problem?" Honestly!! That man made me roll my eyes at times!

After Jase died there was a half empty bottle of diet coke in the fridge. I left it there. And 10 1/2 months later it was still in the fridge. I couldn't bring myself to get rid of it. It was such a major part of who Jason was, him and his diet coke addiction.

Yesterday I decided it was time to let the coke go. I couldn't bear to tip it down the sink so I drank it, straight from the bottle just like he did. My lips where his had been. I cried. and now it's gone.

Funny how such seemingly little things totally turn you to a mess!

Good Bye Diet Coke, I will miss you in my fridge xxx

Tears in my eyes... The Man and I have a similar addiction - going to get the coke bottle out of the fridge right now and drink a toast to you and Jason and the coke addiction. Well done you for taking another step.
Big big big hugs!

(((hugs))) Trace. Thanks for letting us get to know your Jase. Even though he's not here with you...I feel like the way you remember him lets us all get to know him.
Will you keep the bottle though now?
I cant believe you guys drink it first thing in the morning! :)

(hugs) Tracey, what a touching story. My heart goes out to you. Will you keep the bottle and alter it with your scrapbooking supplies? Turn it into something really special about Jason.

Oh that is SO sad :-( But like jacksta said - it's good to get to know who he was through your stories - he lives on vicariously (is that the right word?) through you :-)

Hey Tracy....I remember staying with you in NZ last when Jason died, and I remember the Bottle of Diet Coke to which you refer. What mixed emotions I now have that the coke is gone. Such an Important Symbol of a beautiful Man but I also know Jason lives on through you and Riley and Abbey, ultimately and definately. I am so very proud of and also teary for you! I shall be purchasing and consuming Diet Coke today in celebration of Jason and My Most Incredibly Delicious Sissy and Their Exquisite Children. Always know that We Love You XxxX P.S. I'm sure Jase would be thrilled to know that you both have inspired me to consume a liquid that I thoroughly dislike XxxX
