Flashback Friday

I truly believe I was born in the wrong era ... I really should have been this age back when having everything orange was COOL ....

My Mum's Bridesmaid Dress was orange - my mum has style! This is my Mum and Aunt Brenda in 1971

Other cool orange stuff from the 70's ....

Orange Tupperware

This stuff is FANTASTIC and I LOVE it!! If anyone has any in their cupboard I will seriously buy it from you because I am trying to house my entire pantry contents in it .. I have a small collection so far but not nearly enough! Trade Me ROCKS for finding this stuff!

Kitchen Appliances

OK so I know these aren't old, they are new BUT they are old school style and that I like!! What I DON"T like is how expensive all the 'new retro' stuff costs!

Cars

I have always been in love with the VW Beetle & Combi Van I want one of each ... there is an orange combi around town here that I've seen ... sigh

Orange just rocks it really does!!
Oh and if you ever wondered where all this orange obsession started ....

The apple never falls far from the tree - my Mum & Dad in ADORABLE matching ORANGE outfits

Enough said!

Flashback Friday

On Jason's Birthday we went to Cobb & Co for dinner and with the kids meals come what they call 'Cobb Crunchies' which are Tatties. It got me thinking all about when we were kids and Mum would make us big bowls of Tatties ALL the time. I don't remember having potato chips so much as I remember Tatties! Makes me want to go buy some! Any one know where to get them?? Sadly I can't find a picture of any Tatties to show you what I'm talking about but I do have a photo of Riley eating his Cobb Crunchies ...

Thinking about Tatties got me thinking about other food we had as kids.
Things like:
K Bars
Tangy Fruits
Sparkles
Snifters
Milk Biscuits
Buzz Bars
Toffee Milks
Bubble O Bill Ice Creams

Sooo many more I'm sure! What do you guys remember???
Oh and while we are on the subject of food remember this???

NB Thanks to all those lovey message boarders on TMMB for helping me remember lots of the above things!!!

Flashback Friday

As most of you know I am obsessed with the colour orange. Every now and again I search the Internet for orange things. I'm not feeling the best tonight so thought I'd see what new things I could find. And I found this ....

I totally want one!! I showed Nic & Danice who I happened to be chatting with on MSN (as per usual) and Nic mentioned it reminded her of Mork & Mindy ... and OMGoodness it so does!! And I LOVED that show when I was a kid!! So who remembers Mork & Mindy? Here's a little reminder for you

Robin Williams gotta love the guy he is just too funny!
So what TV shows did you watch as a kid?

Another one of my favourites from when I was younger was a show called Tour Of Duty

My dear sweet hubby bought me the season one DVD of Tour Of Duty when he was in USA in 2009. I LOVED it, brought back so many great memories. My very first Vinyl record I bought was the Tour Of Duty Soundtrack, I can't remember what year it was but I know I was at Intermediate so 1989-90ish

I still have this and because my hubby was freaken awesome and also bought me a record player I do get to listen to it frequently, in fact it has been the music for Art Night with Ruth & Janine the last couple weeks!!

Do you remember the first album you bought? Would love to hear all about it!

Flashback Friday

A few weeks ago I let Riley (who will be 6 in March) watch Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope for the First time. He LOVED it. Who doesn't? It's a classic film! It came out in 1977 (excellent year both Jason and I were born in 1977!) and kids of the 2000's are still loving it!! Today the weather has been horrid .. rain rain rain and a little bit more rain, it's so bad in fact I have just heard of friends house's getting flooding! Too crazy!! Anyway because of the weather we had a lazy afternoon watching the next two Star Wars movies, Episode V The Empire Strikes Back and VI Return of the Jedi.

So here is Riley's Star Wars review ....
Mum - "so what you think of the star Wars Movies?"
Riley - "I liked the first one and the middle one but not the last one so much"
Mum - "How come?"
Riley - "the last one was scarier, but I liked it at the end when they had the party with the fireworks"
Mum - "Who was your favourite character?"
Riley - "I liked the little robot R2"
Mum - "R2D2?"
Riley - "yeah!"
Mum - "what was your favourite part of the movies?"
Riley - "When Luke lifted the rocket up out of the mud"

I never get tired of these movies and I am soo glad that Riley enjoyed them so much!!

Here are some REALLY cool Star Wars things I found that I hope the rest of you Star Wars junkies will appreciate as much as I did!!

*School Bag & Book Tags
*Book Covers
*Lego
*R2D2 Beanie
*Crochet
*Storm Trooper Helmet
*Baby Yoda Hat
*Cakes

I could carry on for a millennium!! But I won't!! So until next Blog ....

May the force be with you!

Flashback Friday

Remember these little guys?

I LOVED them when I was a kid. When Jason and I saw the DVDs at The Warehouse a couple years back we HAD to get them. I have tons of my old Smurfs from when I was a kid so once the kids started watching the DVDs I pulled out my Smurfs. They love them, especially Abbey. I think it's a girl thing, playing with little people!! Here she is playing with my old Smurfs

I have seen that they are selling Smurfs again, I would love to add to my collection! I LOVE the little Smurf Houses I've seen!!

So do you still have any of your old toys and do your kids play with them?? If so let me know I would LOVE to see photos!

Flashback Friday

I have decided that from now on I am going to do a Flashback Friday on my blog ... Showing some cool stuff from back in the "good ol' days" Might be a YouTube clip, a photo who knows ....

Today I am going to share a photo and a song .. well it's kinda a song!

Who is this Handsome young man??? Ohhhh that's right my husband!! I'm sitting here watching the best of Glee and realising how different school is here in NZ to America. I believe this was Jason's Year Book photo 1996? I love the idea of the year book, something that never happened at my High School. I am lucky enough to have a couple of Jason's year books, but not only that but he has the coolest High School ring, and a cup with ALL the names of the Graduating class of 1996. Makes me wish that there was more cool stuff like that associated with High School here. Times may have changed and more cool stuff may be coming out, it has been a wee while since I was at High School. But knowing how different things are between the two countries makes me appreciate all that Jason gave up to be here with me in NZ. Thanks babe xxx

Who remembers this?? I had forgotten about this until my friend on FaceBook posted it and oh my I used to like it back then, but now I LOVE it more!! It has a whole different meaning!! It is bloody brilliant!

So I hope you enjoyed my little bit of a flashback for Friday ..oh and I guess I should say Happy New Year! See you in the next one!
